Dear JANO,
My name is Nina Zimmerman, from the Akron Racers
women's professional softball team. We recently signed outfielder Ayumi Karino
to play for us this season and are looking for an interpreter to help her
communicate and adjust to life in the U.S. We are looking for someone to start
as soon as possible (with team practices starting sometime next week) and there
is definitely the possibility of job sharing, for example for home and away
games. Working hours for the position are flexible, and range from approximately
9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for days that the team practices and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for
home games. The exact times will of course depend on the team's practice
schedule, which we are still not completely sure of right now. When the Racers
play at home and for practices, the hourly wage for the interpreter is $12. The
team plays 28 total home games, with the first coming on June 27. When the team
plays away games, all expenses, such as travel and hotel accommodations, are
covered by the Racers, and while on the road the interpreter will receive $40
per diem for food. The Racers' season starts in Chicago on June 5, and ends
with the playoffs in Chicago on August 25. As I said, we are looking for
someone to start as soon as possible, because we understand that transitioning
from one culture to another can be a difficult process an we would like to make
it as comfortable for or player as we possibly can. Any assistance in this
matter would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached via email at NinaZimmerman@akronracers.us or
by phone at (330) 376-8188.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Nina Zimmerman PR/Media
Relations Intern with the Akron Racers
